A Year

My husband is getting sent to Korea for a year. I'm not allowed to go.

A year.

He's going to miss 5 birthdays, a Christmas, a Halloween, our anniversary, Izzy's first day of Kindergarten...

I don't feel like knitting right now. I know I'll do it later. I can't send him to Korea without new socks, an afghan, pillows...

A year.

*hug*

My dad got sent to Korea the first time (one year, to head a company) when I was three; the second time (two years, the batallion); the third and final time when I was 17 (two years, the brigade) - yep, senior year of High School (mom went, I stayed Stateside with relatives).

Your DH will have e-mail, mail-mail, and possibly video capability. He'll love getting pictures, videos, and photos. (My dad didn't have e-mail until his third tour.)

Do you know/can you say where he's going to be stationed yet?

He told me, I just wasn't listening. The shock is going away and now I'm just trying to get prepared.

He said it would be cold there in the winter and hot in the summer, so I'm going to start knitting as much as I can to keep him comfortable while he's there.

Man, that sucks. You can do it! I did 3.5 years worth of middle east deployments..... it can be done. Email me if you want to talk. Hugs!

Crap, that sucks. I just clicked over from, oh, i can't remember, but good luck. That's going to be a true challenge for you and for him. Imagine how awful for him to miss all the family life for a year.
